I think just as big a priority as 47 is 57 - The Ducks have no young offensively gifted centers even close to making the big club and 57 is big- skilled - and is one of the only guys that can make individual plays or set guys up to finish -
Coach - very odd that no one is in place as of yet - I'm hoping for Green myself but would be ok with Paul M - I don't want RC back but that seems to be an option also -
I'm hopeful that a blockbuster can be made with FA/ 4 or 45 - for a highly skilled finisher w/ some dangle in his game also - Murray is going to have to give to get and stop with this around the edges approach -
Want Pirri & Mcginn back only -
Depending on Manson health there may be other D men available to flip for more Offensive help -

I think you mean 67, not 57. I agree with you. He must be resigned.

I also think 57 (Perron) is a valuable asset to the team. However, only at a reasonable price.

I agree with all this. My opinion is move Fowler and keep Vats. Other guys are in Anaheim who can bring a leadership presence. Lindholm is the obvious. And Theodore right there. You need to keep the RH shot plays of Vats. And pray to god you can find a good return for Freddy. And not saying that because he isnt good. But in the hopes teams are just waiting out for what theyre system can produce. Get a ransom for him.

GM BM has a lot on his plate! What's nice is he has options, and is in an advantageous position between RFAs and cap space (relatively speaking).

A big part of BM's plan over the past 5 years now has been to bolster the blueline with intelligent puck movers. Fowler, Vatanen, Lindholm, Despres, Manson, Theodore, Larrson, Gardiner, Sbisa and even Schultz. Anaheim invests in drafting these players, developing these players, and running a system that makes success advantageous for players of their skill set.

Cam Fowler has been with the Ducks since 2011. The only players who have been here longer are Getzlaf and Perry. Fowler is 24 years old. He has been working with Scott Niedermayer throughout that entire time. Also, with a new coach he will almost certainly be asked to step into a bigger role, and be looked to as more of a leader. Sometimes a new coach can help players break their mold a bit; I hope to see that with Cam.

Anyways, this franchise has invested so much into these defensemen. In order to be the cornerstone of this franchise for the next decade! I don't see Fowler going anywhere!

Normally I would agree with you, but not necessarily now. And don't get me wrong, I love Cam on the team. However, I wouldn't be stunned to see him traded.

First, the team never spends to the Cap. With the internal budget 5-9 million below the Cap, that's one top line player we don't have. I get the budget argument, but I also know the owners have tremendous deep pockets, and it would be nice to suspend the budget while the Cup window is still open. After the next 2 years, Fowler will be due a raise, and we're talking about a minimum of 6 and more likely 7+/yr. Not so sure the team is willing to take on that salary since.....

Lindholm has emerged as the legitimate "cornerstone of this franchise for the next decade" on the D. His underlying stats are better than Cams, really there's no comparison. Cam is the better skater, but Lindholm makes everyone he plays with better. The future is with Lindholm. Trading Fowler also allows the team to.....

resign Vatanen. Ducks can't sign both I don't believe without shedding salary. Maybe Stoner can get moved, but nothing of significance comes back. Trading Fowler will bring value back. The loss of Fowler is also mitigated because of the emergence of ........

Shea Theodore. This kid may even be better than Lindholm in time. His time is now. He will be with the club next year. Imagine Lindholm, Vatanen, Theodore, Despres, Manson (all 25 or under) developing together. Also have Bieksa (assuming Stoner gone) signed. There's your top 6. AND we still have top prospects in the minors (Larsson, Montour, etc.)

Anyway, for the above reasons I can see Cam gone, but if not, I think Vats will be traded. Can't keep both. If somehow BM keeps everybody (sans Stoner), I will be pleasantly surprised. Time will tell.

My guess is you can keep one of Fowler, Vats and Stoner. Since the Ducks are needing to add a top 6 winger, you have to shed salary somehow and I can't imagine they will be able to movie Bieksa.

I would say keep Vats as long as his contract is similar to what Fowler is at currently. Vats is right-handed and can quarterback the power play.

With Theodore needing a spot, I think they will move Fowler since he and Theodore play a similar game, but Theodore seems to have more upside and both are left handed.

2. Step down from role as GM

3. Step down from role as GM

4. Step down from role as GM

5. Step down from role as GM

And then someone give Corey Perry the 'C'.

Two things happen, either for some crazy reason this works, more likely scenario is this will cost both Murray and Carlyle their jobs. I'd put odds at 95% on the latter.
I will say though that a majority of the STHers are not happy, and that's not a good thing for a team that really needs season ticket income. The only one's who are happy with this decision are the myopic who only remember that he was the coach of the Ducks team that won the Cup and forget that there were 3 future HOFers on that team and that it happened 10 F*CKING YEARS AGO!

Multiple sources are reporting this... will probably be officially announced at some point later today.

I'm intrigued by a second tour of duty for Randy Carlyle.
